You may already know this story from some dude named Aesop, but you have never heard it told this way. This is a wonderful retelling of a classic fable about mercy and returning a favor. In this version, both the lion and the mouse have real personalities and the simple story is satisfying. I loved the dry watercolor illustrations but what I loved most was the language. With wonderful rich vocabulary, this book demands to be read aloud. Parents, read it to your children. And you big brothers and sisters, read it to your little brothers and sisters!
