I am eternally grateful... for my knack of finding in great books, some of them very funny books, reason enough to feel honored to be alive, no matter what else might be going on.

Borders Bookstore Opens in Mira Loma!

If you have ever been one of my students, you probably already know that Barnes & Noble is my favorite store. HOWEVER, a new Borders store opened in Mira Loma, CA. My current students and many of my former students live in this area, so I am very excited to have a bookstore so close by, even if it's NOT Barnes & Noble!

So I went to the grand opening. The store is located in the new shopping center on Limonite off the 15 freeway near the new Edwards theater. I picked up a couple new books, read a couple while I was there, and ate some free snacks they were handing out. It's a very nice store. I like that they have a Young Adult section and an "Independent Reader" section. These are a few steps away from the "Children's" section, which is mostly picture books for the very young. I was also impressed by their selection of anime and manga. On the same aisle as these, you'll find a grip of hard-bound comic books and graphic novels. Right now they mostly have Marvel heroes and novels. Hopefully, in the future they will get more of a variety.

So, even though it won't be taking the place of my beloved Barnes & Noble, I'm sure I will be hitting this place quite a few more times. I already got my free "frequent flyer" card! You guys should definitely check it out!
