Charlotte's Web (2006)

Are you looking for a good movie to watch? Then I suggest you check out "Charlotte's Web"!

I was impressed by this movie. I have been a huge fan of the book Charlotte's Web since I first read it when I was in third grade! I love this book. I would read it to my 2nd graders every year so I have read it at least a dozen times. And I cry at the end just about every time! I was a little leery about what they were going to do with this book. Hollywood is notorious for messing with classic books to make them more "interesting" or entertaining. Hello? The reason they are classics is that they ALREADY are special!!

Well, I am happy to report that they did it right this time! The only major change is that there are a couple of crows that provide some comedic moments that don't exist in the book. Fortunately, they weren't annoying and were actually pretty funny. Otherwise, the movie is pretty faithful to the book. The original words are there in the voice-over narration and coming out of the mouths of the characters. I just about fell out of my chair when Charlotte said "Salutations", just like in the book!! But even more importantly than preserving the text, the makers of this film were able to capture the essence of the book, that two normal creatures (read: "people") can become friends and in their friendship is something truly special! If you are a fan of the book Charlotte's Web, you need to see this movie!!

Be sure to read my review of the book.

I have seen the new Charlotte's was ok, but the book had more information. I saw the preview for Bridge to Terabithia and it does look like a little kid fantasy movie. Just by seeing the preveiws, I can already tell that the book is better, and I will not be going to see that movie.
