In a real sense, people who have read good literature have lived more than people who cannot or will not read. It is not true that we have only one life to live; if we can read, we can live as many more lives and as many kinds of lives as we wish.

George liked his mom but she died. He doesn't like his dad's new girlfriend but she wants to stay. So he makes a plan to get rid of her that involves a dead mouse. Unfortunately, they are stuck on the small island where George lives with his brother and dad until the water freezes hard enough to support a snowmobile.

Does the girlfriend leave? Does George really want her to leave? And what ARE "in-between" days, anyway!?!? Read this short book to find out. It has humor, love, and even a little suspense at the end. It made me laugh, it made me cry. I like just about anything by this author and I liked this book.
